About Yaperture

Do you miss it? The feel of a photograph? Yeah, we kind of do too, so here's what we did: We drew up some code, made a website, posted it to the internets (crashed a computer or two but that's neither here nor there), and Yaperture was born—literally born, like a baby in swaddling clothes and something we are very proud of.

Sure, it was a tad more technical than that, but now there's a place where photographers—pros, n00bs, freelancers, weekend lens-jockeys, and everyone in between—can meet, share, and :::drumroll please::: actually buy photographs. Crazy concept I know, but where else can you find affordable prints by some of the world's best photographers? Nowhere! Okay, maybe you know a place or two, but ours is better. Hear us out.

Getting started is easy. Almost too easy. Sign up for free, post your pictures, vote for what you like, and maybe even make some money. Every two weeks, your votes will determine a set of winning photos and they will be put up for sale on the site.

"Oh, but Yaperture team (this is what you'll call us), why can't I just buy any picture I want?"

That's when we'll say, "Where's the fun in that?" If you want to buy a picture, vote for it. If the photo's yours, tell your friends to vote for it, tell your family to vote for it, even tell your mailman (or woman) to vote it (sky's the limit here, folks). Not only do winners get featured on the site, but they get a big fat check for the prints that Yaperture sells. We want your best pictures for the world to see. We want discussions and critiques on how to make photos better. We're bringing together a community that loves seeing the world behind a lens.

Why? Because you're like us. You know there's something special about the photo that no digital image can replace. So join the party (we're fun, just ask our moms), because Yaperture is just for you. Get excited—we're bringing the photo back to life.

(And the noise and the funk if we have time).
